“The world is lovely and still marvelous and my view of life is still positive.  Everything about nature tells me life wants to go on and I am dazzled by human potential.  But we have, all of us have, work to do.  That work is to take care of the part of the world we have some personal influence over—our backyards, our neighborhoods and our work places.” ~ Tony King

“The greatest thing a human soul ever does in this world is to see something and tell what it saw in a plain way.  Hundreds of people can talk for one who can think, but thousands can think for one who can see.  To see clearly is poetry, prophecy and religion, all in one.” John Ruskin

“The sun shines not on us but in us.  The rivers flow not past, but through us. Thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing.  The trees wave and the flowers bloom in our bodies as well as our souls, and every bird song, wind song, and tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountains is our song, our very own, and sings our love.” John Muir

KCT Thought of the Week, June 16, 2017

Long years ago near the lone oak tree

Was the ‘Swimmin’Hole’ where small boys came

Ere yet the winter had turned to spring,

Here, too, the ‘Eel Bridge,’ now but a name.

Stone’s oaks are waiting as green as when

Erect they stood ‘neath the July sun;

And whisper stories of Skipper Joe’s,

Real stories once told when day was done.”

“Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words.

Keep your words positive, because your words become your behavior.

Keep your behavior positive, because your behaviors become your habits.

Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values.

Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny.”

By Janet Douglas Manchester

“Here are roses, Mommy!”  She smiled and then ran off to play.

I looked down with fond amusement at her treasure of the day.

Crumpled from her little hands, yet beautiful they lay,

for their joy is in the message that they brought to me to say.

‘Your garden is the whole wide earth; Its’ joy transmitted – free!

“I love you” smiles from every flower you pick on bended knee.

“I love you” is the message from flower to her to me.

For dandelions are roses when you are only three.”
