In 2019, Michael was selected as the Artist in Residence for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, where he joined U.S. Fish & Wildlife ornithologists at a remote field camp to study migratory birds. Since then, he’s returned many times, inspired by the incredible plants and creatures that thrive in the tundra.
