The Kennebunkport Conservation Trust invites all to join the Barbara Bush Beach Walk at 7am on Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk.
This informal walk is in honor of the 100th birthday of the late, dog loving, First Lady Barbara Bush, who spent many mornings walking her dogs at Gooch’s. Optional dress-up/decorate your dog and your human in Barbara Bush style is encouraged!
After the walk. All are invited to join us for a public birthday party to celebrate, honor, and remember - (what would have been) Barbara Bush's 100th birthday! The celebration is part of a nationwide year-long celebration of our hometown First Lady.
The free, public birthday celebration will continue from 12-3PM on the River Green where Barbara Bush’s own Ganny’s Garden is located. Celebrate in style with live music by Lisa Mills, fun and games, a book sale to benefit Ganny’s Garden, photo op stations and props, kid’s activities, book readings (at 12:30pm - Little Blue Truck and 1:30pm- The Day You Begin), food vendors, slideshow, a chance to write a personal message to the Bush family which will be delivered directly to them, FREE cake for all, and more!
Home bakers, local businesses, restaurants, and eateries are invited to bake a cake to be served at Barbara Bush's Community Birthday Party. Themed cakes designed around the First Lady and her love of the area are encouraged but not required.
Cake drop-off will be between 9-11am at The River Green in Kennebunkport on Sunday, June 8, 2025. RSVP is required from committed bakers by May 25, 2025.
To RSVP to donate a home baked cake, and/or FMI, or to receive a cake recipe from the Bush Family Cookbook, please contact KCT co-coordinator of the day’s events Kim Schutsky at: events@kporttrust.org
