Elementary School Field Trips

Trust in Education has a special relationship within the RSU21 district. During elementary school, each grade adopts a different property and spends the year visiting that property to explore different science and humanities concepts. Each field trip is built off of Next Generation Science Standards and was created alongside district teachers to help bring nature-based, hands-on, multidisciplinary education to a variety of units throughout the year.

We want to make our field trips accessible to anyone educators who would like to use them, with credit to Trust in Education and Kennebunkport Conservation Trust. That’s why we’ve uploaded these downloadable resources here! You can explore student workbooks, view station guides, and download virtual classrooms loaded with interactive content. Our field trips have both virtual and in-person compatibility! While we typically run our trips in-person at various Kennebunkport Conservation Trust properties, these lessons can be adapted for many different spaces.

We believe educational programs should be available to all who want them, and that’s why we offer our elementary school programs for free, whether its here at the Trust with our staff, self-run in your classroom, exploring your own local land, or virtually. No matter the format, students have the opportunity to contact our staff and volunteers with questions and comments!

Want to book a field trip to the Trust? Love what you see and want to work with us to create a field trip that meets your teaching needs? Have questions about content and use? Don’t hesitate to reach out! Our education staff would love to talk with you.

Contact our Director of Programs and Outreach, Leia Lowery (leia@kportclimate.org), or our Kindergarten - 5th Grade Educator, Isaac Schuchat (ischuchat@kporttrust.org) for all education related questions and topics!

Note: As of August 2020, we are working round the clock to update our online resources! Check back here frequently as new content for each grade will be updated. Virtual fall field trips will be available for all grades K-5.
