SHELLEY WIGGLESWORTH JOINS KCT TO GIVE THE TRUST A VOICE

The Kennebunkport Conservation Trust has been serving our community for nearly 50 years! Over time, we have acquired dozens of properties to permanently preserve our land and heritage for all to enjoy. Yes, The Trust offers 27 miles of trails, 2,800 acres of beautiful scenery, and 12 islands to explore, but the land and water we protect represents something much bigger.

Kennebunkport has deep historical roots. The town’s location on the coast of Southern Maine is positioned in a unique ecological environment. About 13,000 years ago, glaciers receded and exposed our land and coastline. Thanks to glaciation and geologic activity, we have rich coastal forests, and a beautiful, craggy shoreline. Since then, everyone from Native Americans, European Colonizers to summer tourists have been drawn to our community. Our working waterfront has hosted generations of mariners, and now, everyone from fishermen to former presidents call our town home. The heritage and history of Kennebunkport run deep as our community and environment continues to flourish. Preserving our roots, protecting our town's natural resources and fighting the effects of climate change takes dedicated effort.

We are excited to welcome Shelley to our team as her writing will tell our story. From a few concerned citizens meeting in a barn attic, to a network of properties and state-of-the-art headquarters, we have come a long way. Through storytelling covering our people and places, Shelley will give a voice to The Trust and our connection to Kennebunkport. Our tightly-knit community relies on our landscape for work and play. The Trust relies on our community’s support to continue preserving our special places for all to enjoy. These are the Tales of the Trust.
