We are Thankful
The existence of Kennebunkport Conservation Trust is made possible by the impressive generosity of our community. Acknowledging all that has been done is an endless task, so here is a developing list of acknowledgements. We truly appreciate all of our volunteers, supporters, and donors.
Scott and Karen Dombrowski
Karen and Scott Dombrowski have overseen the Goat Island Lighthouse for the past 28 years! As the faces of Goat Island, they greet and inform visitors, watch over the island, and take care of lighthouse and island maintenance which is an incredibly laborious and intensive undertaking. On call 365 days a year, they receive guests at a moment’s notice, give tours, and have participated in rescues and recovery missions. The Dombrowskis are faithful members of the Trust and we are grateful for their ongoing support.
Chuchk and Susan Leahy
Chuck and Susan Leahy answered our call when we hoped to create our Trust in Education program. Committed to lifelong learning, and using the landscape as a learning tool, Chuck and Susan donated their beautiful house and property to the Trust to help connect people to the land. We are grateful for their contribution and think about their legacy as we work to inspire today’s community to protect tomorrow’s Southern Maine.
Tony Viehmann
Tony Viehmann was described as “the most honest and gentle soul”. He devoted his time, land, and energy to sharing his love of the environment with local students. As an author of children’s books that connect readers to themselves and nature, the host of the 5th grade barbecue, and custodian of our Trust in Education program, Tony was an integral supporter of the community and KCT. We deeply appreciate his contributions. In his memory and along with his wife Nancy, we continue to engage the youth with their surroundings.
