"Captain Barry took the speedy mail coach that traveled all night (from Boston in 1841).  It made the fastest possible time in order to reach Portland by 10:00 a.m. with the Boston newspapers of the day before.  The fare to Kennebunk was $6.00.  The trip to that point required seven changes of horses and twelve hours travel time."   Norman E.
