“On the outer edge of Cape Island the Atlantic piles up on contoured rocks.  When the water heaves and froths and booms high off those rocks in the storms, when there may be ships out there somewhere but certainly no boats, it is still possible to take a small boat the inner way from Cape Porpoise Harbor through the lagoon to Cape Island and stand on its finite 14-acre diamond of land with nothing else but Atlantic from there to the Azores, and take in the storm.”  Sandy Brook
