Gardens of the KCT
Presented By Gail Roller and Kate Adams, Leaders of the Garden Stewards
2024 was a satisfying year for the Garden Stewards at the Emmons Preserve. From the blooming of the spring bulbs to the blaze of rudbeckia in the fall, the gardens attracted pollinators and beautified the property. We were also involved in several additional projects. Another successful Plant Sale was held, we worked with the Education Director and the Alternative Education teachers and students to come up with a plan to revive and improve the Story Book Trail (the grand opening of the Story Book Trail is scheduled for this spring!) and we worked on the Leahy gardens.
Looking ahead, 2025 will be another busy year. The Garden Stewards are collaborating with the Board of Directors, the Nonantum, and Black Rock Farm to plan a gala KCT Fundraising Garden Party to be held early this summer at Black Rock Farm. And, we plan to add a raised bed and plant a new garden along the front of the headquarters building.
