“The annual outing of the Col. L. H. Kendall camp, United Spanish War Veterans, was held Sunday at the home of Commander Charles M. and Mrs. Bradbury at Cape Porpoise. The affair this year was in the nature of a welcoming party for the Bradburys who were recently married…Upon arrival at the home the party was graciously met by Mrs. Bradbury, and her charming manner made each one feel perfectly at home. The home was profusely decorated with flowers of the season and presented a very pretty picture. When Painchauds band, under the leadership of Joseph Martin, arrived in the Petrin bus they were met with great applause. They responded by giving a concert on the Bradbury lawn…a sumptuous lobster dinner was served…Mr. and Mrs. Bradbury were presented with a beautiful bridge lamp, the gift of the Painchauds band…speeches were made…Mr. and Mrs. Bradbury were overcome for the moment..recovering their composure they thanked the members of the band for their beautiful gift. The dinner over, the rest of the day was devoted to memories of the Spanish American war and the changes that have since taken place.”
